3 Crafts For Children From 3 To 5 Years Old

Crafts for children ages 3 to 5 are a good way to get little ones to  develop their creativity while having fun. Children are eager to experiment, and as a mother, you should tap into this natural sense of curiosity to encourage their inventiveness.

However, it is not always easy to find inspiration to offer crafts with which your child exercises his mind. To resolve that conflict, we offer you some easy and creative ideas that will stimulate the imagination and liven up your child’s entertainment:

3 crafts for children from 3 to 5 years

1.- Manual activity with cardboard plates: cooking recipes

We present the first activity in which the little one will have everything he needs to emulate the greats of the kitchen. You must help him prepare a “meal” from pictures of food and other materials.

What do you need?

• Old cooking magazines or food brochures.
• Scissors for children.

• Sheets.
• Glue.
• Shiny powder.
• Powder paint or food coloring (optional).

How do you do it?

• Have your child cut out the pictures and discuss the foods represented.
• Ask her what foods she is most interested in and why she wants to include them in her meal.
• Invite the little one to compose his own special food by gluing different pictures of food onto the paper plates.

Use the different images for your child to compose his menu. If you want to add some imagination, you can add a little food coloring to the white glue so your child can pretend it’s mustard, ketchup, or gravy.

Once their gourmet collages  are ready, the child can integrate them into their fictional and imitation games and serve the food to dolls and stuffed animals.

2.- Manual activity with a shoe box: fish aquarium

An aquarium lends itself to a multitude of creative possibilities. Starting from a shoe box, you can recreate an underwater scene and simulate an aquarium full of cardboard fish. 

What do you need?

• Aluminum foil or paint.
• Wool or rope.
• Cardboard to create your sea creatures.
• Ribbon, pebbles, pearls and anything else you want to incorporate into the aquarium.

How do you do it?

• Help your child completely paint the shoe box. Next, cut two large rectangles on the long sides of the box that will serve as windows to their wonderful aquatic world. If you prefer, you can use aluminum foil instead of paint to cover the box.
• Leave everything designed, decorated and trimmed for the aquarium, like seashells, treasures and fish. You can also cut out pictures from magazines or print pictures you find on the internet. Make sure your sea creatures are always double-sided.

• Punch a hole in the top of each shape and attach a small piece of string.
• Cover or paint the lid to match the rest. Then use a pencil to poke small holes in the lid to hang the fish. Pass the other end of the string attached to your fish through the hole and connect it.

3.- Manual activity with cardboard: Easter bunny garland

Finally, the creation of a garland of Easter rabbits, an idea that will inspire you as the date approaches.

What do you need?

• Cardboard paper in assorted colors.
• White cotton and buttons.
• Cotton thread spool.
• Pair of scissors.
• Pencil.
• Glue.
• Rabbits template.

How do you do it?

• Print out a rabbit template that you find on the net and help him cut it out.
• Using the previously cut template, trace the shape of the rabbit onto the colored cardboard papers. Later, cut the new strokes.
• Create button eyes and tails with white cotton and glue your pom poms to the rabbits you cut.
• Punch a hole in the top of each rabbit and thread the cotton yarn through the paper rabbits alternating colors until you reach the desired length.
• Once you’ve done the above steps, your pretty garland is ready to hang.

Lastly, it is necessary to emphasize that when  faced with a new activity, the child tends to be enthusiastic. This is a point that you should use to your advantage.
