Mothers Often Stress More Than Fathers When It Comes To Taking Care Of Their Babies

Mothers are often more stressed than fathers when it comes to taking care of the baby

If we have to admire one quality of our peers, it is their ability to stress less than we do. And yes, mothers are much more stressed than fathers when caring for a baby.

The truth is that we always worry too much, we want to take care of it more than we should and protect it from even the smallest mosquito. Parents, for their part, are calmer and allow them a little more freedom. Which is too much for us! And again, we get stressed.

What does the research indicate?

A recent study indicated that mothers are less happy than fathers with parenting tasks. It does not mean that we do not feel happy being mothers, but that we have more responsibility and weight than fathers. For this reason, mothers are generally more stressed.

The research was carried out by scientists from Cornell University, the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Population Center, in which they focused on the time spent by mothers and fathers with their children, determining that women feel more tired, stressed and less happy.

According to studies carried out in the American Time Use Survey in 2010, 2012 and 2013 of 12,000 parents in the United States, fathers and mothers have different activities with their children, in very different environments.

Mothers, for their part, are attentive to home, school, doctors, birthdays … which prevents them, in many cases, from being able to fully enjoy their children. The time they spend with parents is totally different.

Even problems can arise in the couple because of this.

Dads enjoy their babies more

The study also found that parents enjoy the time they spend with their children more. Adding that it is good for fathers to spend more time with their children, because the treatment is different from that offered by the mother.

Mothers are more stressed due to the amount of baby care activities they have to do.

Sociologist Ann Meier, who was also part of the research, added that:

“When mothers are with their children, they are generally alone. Parents when they are with children, they are more likely to have other adults around, who offer support. This helps to understand why dads are less stressed with their children.

The good news from our study is that parents generally enjoy being with their children. But the bad news is that mothers enjoy less than fathers because they have more ‘work’ and less ‘fun parenting activities ‘ ”.

Maternal activities tire much more

Lack of sleep is another consequence of accumulation of fatigue in mothers. We are always the first to wake up when the baby cries, increasing stress.

By gathering information from thousands of fathers and mothers, parenting was found to be stressful.

A little help does not hurt so mothers are less stressed

Although, it cannot be generalized, the study notes that these data and statistics were collected from the majority of surveyed households. It is positive to give even a little support to the mothers.

It is true that many men are beginning to contribute greatly in raising babies, but this is not yet practiced in most families.

If a balance is achieved in all the responsibilities that come with having a baby, surely mothers will have much more leisure time with their children and thus be able to enjoy them much more.

A day when the father gets up at night, takes the baby to the doctor and dedicates himself to doing some maternal tasks, will allow the mother to rest and have fun with her son.
